Feeling, Hacked! Also feeling, Peace
Makes me want to take cybersec courses. This calmness also makes me relive my dreams of becoming President - for world peace obviously.
Hello and welcome back to another edition of my blog. I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for taking the time to join me on this journey. Your support truly means the world to me and keeps me motivated to continue writing and pursuing my goals.
The clouds of doubt that hung over me last week are slowly lifting. A mentor recently spoke to me, helping me see myself in a new light. She pointed out that my name, Millicent, means "hardworking," a revelation that brought a fresh perspective.
I've also been fortunate to have a friend, Mufaro, by my side. His unwavering support and encouragement have been a constant source of inspiration. Seeing his success—from an attachment at BakerTilly to landing a job at BDO—has been truly uplifting and he is only in his final semester right now.
This week, thanks to conversations with Mufaro, I've been exploring new opportunities. I'm looking into fellowships and student exchange programs, avenues I hadn't considered before. There was a time when I was deeply passionate about learning and expanding my horizons. Somewhere along the way, the passion faded. If you talk to me in person, I will barely interact back. Not because I don’t want to but the zeal to share knowledge has disappeared – it should come back.
This blog has become a refuge for me, a place where I can set goals and share my journey. It's a space I look forward to(I also look forward to a sip & paint date for me, by me), and I'm grateful for each and every one of you who subscribes and reads along. Nothing motivates me anymore and hence this blog. It is truly helping me get back to my habits, set goals and hopefully achieve them.
On a different note(I am a bit embarrassed actually), my LinkedIn account was hacked over the weekend—a stressful experience to say the least(no, I gave no one an OTP Code). I thought it was a system glitch when I saw my profile picture change for less than a min only to realise about four hours later that someone else had taken control. Information had changed, my feed had changed (and I carefully curate my feed), there was an influx of accepted invites and message replies. I was terrified. What truly made it worse was the fact that I don’t have a mobile phone (haven’t for the past two months) and I use my laptop and tablet for emergency calls. It was so hard trying to recover my account using my tablet. I felt like I wasn’t typing fast enough. But well, Anna Tan had another thing coming. I managed to regain control, but I've decided to take a break from the platform for a little while. It was the last social I was active on seeing as I deleted my Instagram a while ago - I will reactivate.
As for Livic House, it seems to have taken a backseat for now. The creative spark that once drove me has dimmed, but MYND continues to bring me joy. It's a project that keeps me engaged and excited.
I've also found joy in working on my Machine Learning assignment, building a deep learning model. It's a challenging yet fulfilling task, and it has me considering a shift towards data analytics in the finance sector.
And before I sign off,
Recommendations!
I want to recommend something lighter—a recent anime release, "Demon Slayer: To the Hashira Training." I recommended it last week but you can start watching it and its an amazing show. Second is Avatar the last Airbender. I loved the fighting scenes(better than the much anticipated war in GOT) but the integration of ALL those episodes in Book water to 8 episodes wasn’t too great but we all understand why they did that.
Lastly, I'm excited to introduce a new segment to this blog—a look into the ever-evolving world of technology in Zimbabwe and beyond. Stay tuned for insights, updates, and discussions on the latest tech trends. Yo can also get such info here(The Zimbabwean Perspective). A tech blog by a friend of mine, Clint.
As we continue on this journey together, I hope we can embrace the challenges and discoveries that come our way. Thank you for being a part of this community, and I look forward to sharing more with you in the weeks to come.
See ya,
TinasheMillicent
