Hey there, champions of the week!
Grab a cup of coffee, settle in, get comfortable and let's dive into the whirlwind that was last week.
So, guess what? I had the absolute pleasure of attending a small, intimate event last week, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer. One, I discovered that the general manager for Axis Solutions is in fact a woman. Such a great and bold establishment being led by a woman. It also didn’t ease my excitement and girl-power mojo trip that the Minister of ICTPCS was also there!
Did you know that only 3 women in 10 will be able to say that they have held a leadership position or are in a leadership position? That only globally, around 45% give or take, people in the workforce are women? Did you know that the dream-gap is so real, only 1 in 5 women are able to achieve what they dreamt of as a child? Did you know that women’s participation in the workforce is at its lowest since 2006? I bet a dollar and a quarter you didn’t know this mainly because the information I just coughed up is false but it did bring out the points I needed to raise and you read this far and paid attention. (thanks Wes)
So yes imagine the excitement I had to be in a room full of empowered estrogen energy. Electrifying. I have always wanted to be someone who leads, somewhat different considering I don’t like attention but then again, I cant help it. It’s a tinashemillicent thing to be this colourfully-minded.
Now, before we get into the nitty-gritty, let me drop the bombshell:
I received a bursary for my final year of university!!
It's not every day you get such fantastic news, right? I know my family and I are thrilled and thankful for this opportunity considering I have younger tinashemillicent’s that go to school as well. It's more than just financial assistance; it's a validation of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It's a reminder that dreams are worth chasing and that every hurdle is just a stepping stone to greatness.
Believe me when I say I was so thrilled to hear the news but I cant explain the feeling of sadness that took over. Did I deserve it? Did I earn it? Did I expect something like this to ever happen to me?
Yes! Yes! And, Yes! It wasn’t pure luck that this opportunity landed. It wasn’t pure luck that my name was mentioned as a nominee and eventually selected.
1) Gods Grace all the way. Prayer and Faith
2) I work my ass off to get the grades I get. I market myself to the school authorities through activities I participate in. All in all, it was divine intervention meeting preparedness and an opportunity but ultimately thank you for providing me with this bursary
.
But let's rewind a bit and talk about the event itself. It was one of those rare moments where you feel like you're part of something bigger, something meaningful. Surrounded by fellow achievers and visionaries, I couldn't help but feel inspired though I did feel like a spectacle and I didn’t quite like the feeling.
Now on to my goals. As for MYND, If I am at work I don’t think I am able to do with it as much as I would like. It’s an initiative that requires me to be out of the office and travel and its not feasible right now. I really need the money and so I am staying. This weekend, I got three CV/Resume jobs. Just organic growth through referrals from previous clients and I realised why I love and even took courses for this.
Though the weekend was extremely lonely and felt dejected 99.9% of the time, I let myself feel that way because I always bottle it up and I needed to just wallow. I spent the weekend with my phone barely reachable and it kinda stung that I wasn’t expecting messages from anyone. I am still human. The art-selling goal, didn’t paint or draw last week. I read multiple articles and actually studied though.
My capstone involves AI, IoT, Data analytics, programming, database management and other aspects of tech and I should have started earlier but I am starting now and I pray I have time for all this. All in all, the week was blessed with a bucket full of laziness and a sprinkle of dreams and planning.
So, as we wrap up another week filled with highs and hopefully more highs this coming week, remember to keep shining.
Until next time,
